A man from Pennsylvania tragically passed away in a car accident while he was in Ocean City, New Jersey.
According to reports, the man was a pedestrian at the time that he was hit. The car that hit him was going down 8th Avenue, heading west. The driver then attempted to turn left onto Bay Avenue, going south. When they did so, they ran into the man, who was 47 years old, and a 40-year-old woman.
The woman was rushed to the hospital by emergency crews, and she survived. After treatment, they released her from the medical center. The relationship between the two is unclear.
The man was airlifted from the scene and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, the same place that the woman was taken in an ambulance. Despite the use of the helicopter to make the trip go quickly, medical professionals could not save his life.
Authorities did say that the driver who hit the two stayed at the accident scene and appears to be cooperating with the investigation. It is unclear exactly what caused the accident or if it will eventually bring about any charges for the driver. Cases like this do take time, as the police need to do a thorough investigation when there is a fatality involved.
