Ashley Furniture workers continue to be injured on the job

When one looks at the worker safety history at the various manufacturing facilities of Ashley Furniture in Pennsylvania and other states, one may come to the conclusion that this international distributor threatens the lives of approximately 20,000 workers on a daily basis. Following multiple federal investigations and subsequent citations and fines for non-compliance, the company is now subjected to random inspections under the Severe Violator Enforcement Program of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Nevertheless, workers continue to be injured on the job at the various facilities of this company.

Car accidents: Passenger's death may lead to wrongful death claim

In Pennsylvania, as in other states, the driver of a vehicle is responsible for the safety of the passengers traveling with him or her. Unfortunately, drivers are sometimes distracted by their surroundings or mobile devices, and in some cases, alcohol or recklessness may play a part in the negligent actions that lead to collisions. Any personal injuries or deaths resulting from car accidents that were caused by allegedly negligent drivers could lead to civil claims, regardless of the relationship between the driver and the passengers.

Jury rules against plastic surgeon in medical malpractice suit

When individuals in Pennsylvania consider reconstructive surgery or another medical procedure, trepidation is only natural. A botched surgery can have many consequences of which additional medical expenses is only one. A woman and her husband in another state filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a plastic surgeon and a medical facility, claiming negligence on the part of the surgeon. A jury trial was recently held.

Close observation required for identifying cases of birth injury

When new babies are born to Pennsylvania families, it is imperative to observe the child's progress and take note of any signs of birth injury. Not all birth injuries involve bruises and fractured bones, and some may only manifest over time. As a child develops, a birth injury may become apparent and may only be recognized by the time a child goes to school.

It's no secret that many young drivers drive too fast. It is not uncommon for them to travel in groups, and the consequences of negligent driving often include severe injuries to passengers. A recent serious car accident in Pennsylvania resulted in the hospitalization of four young people.
