For some Pennsylvania residents the winter months can be rather enjoyable. But for others, it is just a time they spend waiting for the spring weather to arrive. This winter has been rather rough for this region this year, which has also caused drivers to endure higher risks. Dangerous road conditions could lead to a serious accident, Furthermore, larger vehicles, such as semi-trucks and tractor-trailers, could cause serious injuries and severe damage in an accident. A truck accident could also lead to a multi-vehicle collision, affecting numerous people and cars.
A serious multi-vehicle collision recently occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and caused all lanes to close for a period of time. It was reported that 75 to 100 vehicles were involved in the crash. This resulted in 30 victims suffering injuries.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. near the exit for Route 1 in Bensalem. The crash initially involved 25 vehicles. Authorities stated that the cause of the crash was the weather-related, but they still have yet to determine if a driver was driving unsafe for the current road conditions.
The wreck involved four tractor-trailers that were jackknifed. A driver involved in the crash claimed that the large trucks involved in the accident shielded her vehicle from getting hit again.
When a serious pileup occurs, those involved should take accurate notes about the events leading up to the accident. This will help determine any negligence involved in the crash. This could also help establish liability. Liable drivers could face a personal injury claim for the injuries and damages suffered by other drivers.
Following a serious multi-vehicle accident, those injured should seek to fully understand their situation and determine what options are available. This will help in the next stages in the process, such as filing a lawsuit.
