Driver arrested following hit-and-run pedestrian crash

The roadways are often the scene of various types of car accidents. Whether it is vehicle versus vehicle or pedestrian versus vehicle, the impact of a car crash could seriously or even fatally injure a person, driver or passenger. No matter the cause of the crash, it is important that all those involved do not leave the accident site before the investigation is conducted. If a person fails to remain at the site of the crash, they could endure criminal liabilities.

A hit-and-run accident recently occurred in Pittsburgh. The fatal accident occurred in the early morning hours of February 9 when a 25-year-old man was struck by an SUV. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later died an hour later.

The evidence collected at the scene allowed law enforcement to determine that it was a blue Ford Explorer that struck the man. This evidence eventually lead to the arrest of the driver, who now faces multiple charges related to the crash, including a DUI and homicide by a vehicle.

When a pedestrian is killed in a hit-and-run accident, the driver of the car that struck the pedestrian could face civil liabilities in addition to any criminal charges filed against them. A wrongful death lawsuit could help the family of the victim recover compensation that could be used to cover expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and other damages.

Losing a loved one in a tragic accident is difficult to cope with. Following a hit-and-run accident, loved ones are often emotionally distraught dealing with the fact that a negligent driver caused the victim's death and did not stop to assist or help save their loved one. Although this is a difficult time, it is also a crucial time to understand one's courses of action. This can help preserve their interests and rights.
