Truck driver arrested after hit-and-run in Pennsylvania

When drivers hear sirens and see flashing emergency lights, they assume that an accident occurred on the roadways. In some cases, however, authorities could be in pursuit of a suspect. Following a recent hit-and-run collision, officers attempt to locate the alleged negligent driver. The driver could have seriously injured others or caused severe damage and it was important that authorities located the driver at cause.

Following the truck accident, Pennsylvania authorities in Chambersburg filed charges against a tractor-trailer driver from Tennessee who was suspected of fleeing the scene of an accident. According to reports, the 41-year-old truck driver was driving erratically. This resulted in a collision with two disabled vehicles that were stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 81 near Exit 13. The drivers of those vehicles were seriously injured in the crash.

Following the crash, authorities found the driver of the tractor-trailer at a gas station bathroom where he was later arrested. The crash still remains under investigation. The driver of the truck not only faces criminal penalties, but could also potentially endure civil liability. The injured parties could file a personal injury claim and they could recover compensation to cover expenses, such as medical bills and other damages.

After a hit-and-run accident, those affected are often dealing with both emotional and physical pain. The investigation process could be lengthy and it might take some time until authorities determine who caused the accident. During this time, it is important that the injured parties and their loved ones understand their rights and options. This could mean preparing to file a claim for compensation.
