Traveling at night might mean less traffic on the road, but there are other dangers on the roadway that drivers should be aware of. Driving at night could mean fatigued drivers as well as bad night vision. Either could cause a driver to travel slightly out of their lane, make a wrong turn or miss a sign. These all could lead to an accident that could result in serious injuries or even death.
Pennsylvania State Police recently responded to a fatal accident that involved two vehicles. The late-night collision occurred on Route 321 in McKean County. According to reports, the two drivers collided and both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. One of the drivers was transporting her two children. Neither child was seriously injured, but one was transported to the hospital following the automobile collision.
Authorities are still investigating the accident and it isn’t clear at this time what caused the crash. If investigators are able to determine liability in the case, the loved one of the deceased driver could file a wrongful death suit against the estate of the liable driver. Depending on the situation, a personal injury suit might also be available for the injured children. The suits could result in compensation that could cover expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, loss of companionship, lost wages and pain and suffering.
A fatal accident can be a difficult event for loved ones to cope with. Oftentimes, fatal accidents have financial burdens associated with them, and this can be a huge hardship on the family members that are trying to deal with a death. Those affected in a fatal accident should seek to understand their situation and whether they have options to recover compensation.
