Pennsylvania drivers encounter numerous vehicles, traffic and even different weather while traveling on the road. A driver can potentially encounter several hazards on the road everyday, but some dangers are unavoidable. When a driver is negligent, other drivers may not be able to escape a car accident. This could result in serious injuries or even death.
A fatal accident occurred recently in Essington. Police responded to the two-car crash that occurred around 4:30 a.m. According to reports, the two automobiles collided on Interstate 95 in Delaware County. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to travel off of the road and into the woods.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene of the crash, they assessed the two drivers. One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was listed in critical condition and was transported to the hospital. Authorities are still investigating the accident and have not determined cause or liability at this time.
When liability is determined, either a personal injury suit or a wrongful death claim could be filed. If the deceased driver is at fault, the injured party could gain compensation through the estate of the negligent driver. This would cover medical bills, damages, lost wages and pain and suffering. If the surviving driver is liable, the family of the deceased driver could file a wrongful death suit for compensation to cover funeral bills, damages and pain and suffering.
Dealing with the loss of a loved one in an automobile collision or being an injured victim in a crash can be life altering and emotional. Financial burdens often follow an accident, and gaining compensation will assist with those costs and help with the healing or coping process.
