Everyday, drivers on the road make choices such as how fast to go, what roads to travel and when to turn. When a driver is negligent, a car accident can occur resulting in damages, serious injuries or even fatalities. Whether it is during the morning, the middle of the day or at nighttime, drivers should be aware of their choices while behind the wheel. Watching speeds, following traffic signs and signals and keeping a safe distance from vehicles ahead of them are also important rules of the road that drivers should follow at all times.
A two-vehicle collision occurred on West Port Arthur Road rusting in the death of a man. The crash happened in Beaumont at around 7 a.m. when a driver traveling northbound struck the rear of a Mack truck. The truck was also facing northbound and was waiting to make a left turn. The exact location of both vehicles and the number of lanes wasn’t described in the report at this time and could have played a role in the incident. Emergency crews that responded to the incident transported the driver of the vehicle that struck the truck to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the Mack truck was not injured.
The investigation of the accident is ongoing, and the cause of the fatal crash has not been determined at this time. Additional facts surrounding the incident need to be explored and it still isn’t known if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Although liability has not been designated, there could be a possibility for a wrongful death claim to be filed. The family of a loved one killed in an accident could file a suit to recovers costs associated with the incident. Medical bills, funeral costs and pain and suffering could be covered by the claim.
It is important that drivers are always aware of other drivers on the road. Watch speeds, yielding and properly changing lanes could reduce the chances of being involved in a serious collision.
