OSHA may investigate following work injury

A workplace accident can happen at any moment. Even workers in Pennsylvania who follow all safety recommendations sometimes find themselves in surprising situations. Unfortunately, one out-of-state man is recovering from a serious work injury following an accident that some sources call "unusual."

According to reports, the accident happened one afternoon in late November at Forterra Pipe & Products. A 63-year-old man is said to have been discarding sand from a tractor-trailer. The trailer was raised when it tipped over, landing on the cab.

The man became trapped in the cab of the truck. It took rescue crews over half an hour to extricate him, but workers were able to hook him up with an IV while the extrication process was underway. While the exact nature of his injuries is unclear, reports indicate that a tourniquet was utilized. Once extricated, he was transported to the hospital by helicopter.

Many workers in Pennsylvania who suffer a work injury serious enough to require a tourniquet often miss work for an extended period of time while they recover. In some cases, their injuries are so severe that they are never able to return to work in the same capacity. While medical bills and lost wages could cause complications in their lives, they are may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits that provide for many of the costs created by a workplace accident such as this one. Because victims are often focused on their recovery, they ask an attorney with experience with the compensation process to help them seek fair compensation.
