Deaths, injuries and fire resulted from serious car accident

Whenever alcohol and speed are combined, there can be severe consequences. This is once again evident in a serious car accident that occurred in Pennsylvania on a recent Friday. A collision between to vehicles caused death, injury and fire.

According to the Northern York County Regional police, a 32-year-old man from New Oxford was driving an SUV in Paradise Township shortly after 5 p.m. The driver allegedly disregarded a stop sign and smashed into a sedan. After rolling over several times, the SUV crashed into a building's porch before bursting into flames.

Two occupants of the sedan -- the 70-year-old driver and a 71-year-old passenger -- were transported to a hospital for treatment of the injuries they suffered. A 98-year-old passenger who was also in the sedan died at the accident scene. Reportedly, the SUV driver suffered critical injuries, and he was airlifted to a medical facility, but he did not survive. Authorities reported that they believe the SUV driver was traveling at an excessive rate of speed. It is also alleged that he was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

Even though the SUV driver -- who is deemed responsible for the serious car accident -- lost his life, claims for financial relief may be filed against his estate. Personal injury claims may be pursued by the two injured individuals, and a wrongful death claim may be filed by the surviving family members of the deceased passenger. Upon the establishment of negligence, a Pennsylvania civil court will adjudicate all documented claims for economic and emotional damages sustained before entering monetary judgments.
