Truck accidents: 3 airlifted after suffering critical injuries

When cars are in the way of out-of-control commercial trucks, the occupants of the cars often have slim chances of survival. Truck accidents on Pennsylvania highways often result from drivers not taking note of the traffic conditions ahead. Three occupants of two cars were fortunate to survive a recent crash that involved multiple vehicles.

An accident report by Pennsylvania State Police indicates that the wreck happened on a recent Wednesday afternoon in Tioga County. It is alleged that the driver of a tractor-trailer that was southbound on Route 15 failed to notice that traffic ahead had come to a stop due to an earlier accident. The truck crashed into the rear of a sedan, which was pushed into the back of another car. That vehicle then crashed into a minivan that was forced under the trailer of another semi-truck.

The driver of the first car that was rear-ended suffered life-threatening injuries, as did the driver and one passenger in the second car. All three were airlifted to a medical facility as quickly as possible. Reportedly, none of the occupants of the other vehicles suffered more than minor injuries.

While the accident investigation is ongoing, three people are fighting for their lives in a hospital. Injuries suffered in car versus truck accidents can be severe, and the medical costs may be substantial. Victims are entitled to pursue financial relief to cover medical expenses, lost income and other financial losses. Physical and emotional damages may also form part of documented claims when a personal injury lawsuit is filed in a Pennsylvania civil court. For such a claim to be successful, the plaintiff will have to establish negligence on the part of another person before the court will consider entering a monetary judgment.
